Congratulations to the Saluda Soundwave (aka Tiger Band) on finishing in 1st place in their 2A class, and being Grand Champions in the Green Division at the Henry Laurens Invitational on September 25th. This was their first competition of the season. The kids (and adults) have been working hard since July to have this show ready for this first competition which is the kickoff to our competitive season! Our ultimate goal is STATE on October 30th. Take a minute to view the band’s leadership profiles on the web page to get to know these students a little bit more!
The Soundwave took the field of competition at 4:45 pm full of nerves and excitement and performed their show “The Letters”. The show depicts a love story playing out in letters during the Vietnam War to a background of musical selections that include When a Man Loves a Woman, War: What is it Good For?, The Letter, Leaving on a Jet plan, Adagio for Strings, Taps, and Let There be Peace on Earth.
To say these ladies and gentlemen work hard is an understatement! They have, like everyone else, faced adversity this year due to Covid and other unexpected issues, however they take it in stride, push through, and most of all have fun. For example, an unexpected transportation issue delayed our departure from the competition for over an hour, and instead of grumbling and complaining of being tired and wanting to get home, they stood by the road and cheered for each band as they left the facility. As you can see by the videos and pictures in this post, they love being together and truly are one family. #OneSaluda
The Soundwave will be performing in Hartsville next week. Please view our calendar of events for future competitions and the schedules.
